Set off on a full-day tour of Brussels and the Waterloo battlefield with a guide!
You will meet your guide at Saints-Michel-et-Gudule Cathedral to begin this excursion dedicated to two of Belgium’s must-see sites. The morning will start with a walking tour through Brussels’ historic center. As you stroll through the streets, you will make your way to the Grand-Place and discover several of the capital’s iconic landmarks, including Manneken Pis and the Royal Galleries. This guided walk will give you the opportunity to learn more about Brussels’ history, architectural heritage, and daily life in the city.
You will then continue discovering the capital aboard a coach on a panoramic tour through several districts of Brussels. This route will offer you a broader view of the city, with its major monuments, main thoroughfares, and institutional quarter. An outdoor photo stop is planned in front of the Atomium, one of Brussels’ most iconic landmarks. Throughout the tour, your guide will also explain the city’s role as the political capital of the European Union.
The excursion will then continue to Waterloo. After some free time for lunch, you will head off to discover the battlefield and the main sites linked to the 1815 campaign, particularly around the Lion’s Mound and Le Caillou. Your guide’s commentary will help you better understand how the battle unfolded and why it played such an important role in European history.
On the way back, you will pass through several other important areas of Brussels, including Cinquantenaire Park, the European Quarter, Rue de la Loi, and the surroundings of the Royal Palace and the Palace of Justice. You will finally return to the city center at the end of this full day combining a guided tour of Brussels with a historical immersion in Waterloo.
