This monument is steeped in many centuries of history, marked by the women who shaped it: Katherine Briçonnet, Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Medici, Louise de Lorraine, and Louise Dupin. You’ll see the 3 sections that make up this castle: the main building, the grand gallery overlooking the river Cher through five arches, and the Tour des Marques, a vestige of the former medieval castle.
Your tour will take you through some twenty rooms, each with its own fascinating period style. Stroll through the Guard Room, the Chapel, the Green Study, the bedrooms of Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Médicis, and the François I and Louis XIV drawing rooms.
The 'Galerie des Dômes', which was converted into a military hospital during the 1st World War, pays tribute to the soldiers and nursing staff.
The 'Grande Galerie' was used during the 2nd World War as a clandestine passage to the free zone.
