Set off to meet whales and other marine animals accompanied by a marine biologist near Dyer Island!
Once arrived in the small fishing village of Gansbaai, you will meet with the biologist and the team that will accompany you on board. Enjoy tea, coffee and muffins before heading to the water. Get ready and equip yourself for the humidity and embark on a boat to meet and admire the area’s sea life.
From January to June, you will mostly observe humpback whales and Bryde’s whales. On the contrary, between June and December, you will be able to spot right whales. With a little luck, you may also observe sharks that inhabit the famous “Shark Alley”, several species of dolphins as well as a diverse variety of marine birds. You will also be able to witness other inhabitants of Dyer Island: the endangered African penguins and fur seals!
Throughout the cruise, the marine biologist will share his knowledge with you in an educational and friendly atmosphere. Once back at the port, share your feelings and questions with the biologist and the other participants around a bowl of soup and slices of bread. Following this chat, if you so wish, you can also freely visit the African penguins and marine birds reserve in order to admire them from up close.
