The Academy Of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia is one of the first scientific institutions in the United States, dating back to 1812. In its early days, the Academy organized major expeditions to the American West that led to the discovery of new species of flora and fauna. This museum is a collection of several million of these finds.
During your visit, you can learn more about the natural history of our earth with the collection of many dinosaur bones and the presence of a reproduction of one of the largest predators to have lived on earth, a Giganotosaurus or Tyrannosaurus Rex. You can browse the museum's dinosaur halls from continent to continent.
When you visit the museum's laboratory, you'll have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of some researchers working on real fossils that have been unearthed in many corners of the world.
For younger visitors, the Museum offers Outside In, the Academy of Natural Sciences' children's museum, which also lets them immerse themselves in the scientific atmosphere at their own pace with participatory workshops.You'll also discover the Museum's permanent exhibitions, including Le Dinosaure Hall and the Big Dig.
