With a knowledgeable local English-speaking guide, you'll visit Kyoto's Imperial Palace, former residence of Japan's imperial family. You'll learn about the history of this iconic landmark, while admiring its elegant architecture and serene gardens. Although some areas of the palace are not open to the public, your guide will help you appreciate every detail and immerse you in Japan's imperial history.
Then on to Nijo Castle, a UNESCO heritage site and a must-see for lovers of feudal Japanese architecture. You'll explore the Ninomaru-goten, the castle's main palace, with its richly decorated rooms and garden. You'll learn more about the era of the shoguns and the Edo period.
At the end of the tour, you'll be dropped off near a subway station: you can return to your hotel or continue exploring the city.
