You'll meet your guide in the Sassi district in the heart of Matera, for a tour of authentic districts with numerous troglodyte buildings, lasting 2hrs 30mins.
The first stop on this guided tour is the Piazza Francesco, with its stunning Gothic-style Basilica. You'll then arrive at the Civita which is the highest point in the city and has a superb view of the grandiose Cathedral of Matera.
You'll continue along some narrow alleyways to get to Via dei Fiorentini and then enter the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate.
Your guide will then take you on a tour of a traditional dwelling carved into the rock face where you can learn more about the local craftsmanship.
You'll then take Via Nostra Señora delle Virtue to Porta Pistoia and a large square that separates the Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso districts. Your guide will tell you about San Pietro Caveoso church before ending this guided tour at the Piazzetta Pascoli with its gorgeous view over the Sassi districts.
