Explore the colonial village of Guatapé and the Piedra del Peñol monolith on a day trip from Medellin!
From your hotel in Medellin, you'll head east. After about an hour's journey, you will arrive at the Peñol reservoir, made up of small islands on Lake Guatapé. You will contemplate the beauty of the immense natural landscape. You will then go to the gigantic Piedra del Peñol monolith, considered the largest in the world.
You will then have a choice of two activities. You can choose to climb to the top of the Piedra del Peñol by taking the 750 steps leading to the top of the huge rock over 200 metres high. You will then enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Guatapé and the surrounding mountains.
Or you can choose to take a speedboat tour on Lake Guatapé and explore the Peñol Reservoir more closely (extra charge).
You will continue your day with a visit to the beautiful, colourful villages of Nuevo Peñol and Guatapé. At the end of the day, you will be taken back to your hotel in Medellin.
