Descrizione

Take a day trip to three cenotes and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant!

Cenotes are natural sinkholes, created by the erosion of limestone, and partially filled with fresh water. The word "cenote" is only used in the Maya region and comes from the Mayan word "dzonot" which means abyss. These naturally-formed pools have become Yucatán Peninsula must-sees.

Leaving from your Mérida hotel or meet-up point you'll head to Cuzamá which is 55km from the city. Cuzamá is the Yucatec Maya word for "swallow water", which may come from the number of birds that nest in the cenotes' walls.

On arrival you'll head off to the Cenotes by horse-drawn cart, or if you prefer, you can borrow a bike and cycle to and from the cenotes during the day. You can enjoy swims and discover the three types of cenote that exist in the Yucatán Peninsula: a cave cenote, a semi-open cenote and finally the more common but equally impressive open cenote. Each one has a different temperature and colours.

Before returning to Mérida you can dig into a meal featuring Yucatán specialities.

And once your relaxing day in unforgettable surroundings draws to an end, you'll be driven back to your hotel or meet-up point.
