You'll leave from your hotel or a meet-up point in Mérida and follow the Puuc Route, a unique, hilly part of the Yucatan Peninsula, dotted with several archaeological sites.
The first stop is a visit to the Hacienda Yaxcopoil. Haciendas are large farms that also include the farmer's home. Thanks to its size and stunning colonial architecture, this 17th-century building was considered one of the most important estates in the Yucatán Peninsula. Yaxcopoil means "the place of the green alamo trees" in the Yucatec Mayan language. The majestic main house, with its large rooms, high ceilings and wide windows and doors, is surrounded by brightly-coloured lush green gardens. The interior decor is typically colonial and includes numerous pieces of original furniture.
You'll then continue along the Puuc Route to the Mayan archaeological site of Uxmal. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is in the heart of nature and is very well-preserved and largely intact. Uxmal, whose Mayan name means "thrice-built", was constructed in the Classic period and peaked between 800 and 950 AD. The site comprises 15 buildings and must-sees include the Soothsayer Pyramid, the Quadrilateral of the Nuns and the Governor's Palace.
Your guide will then take you lunch at a local restaurant, and afterwards you can enjoy a refreshing break at the Peba Cenote. You'll love the view and the chance to enjoy an out-of-the-ordinary swim in the heart of the tropical rainforest.
After your swim you'll be driven back to your Mérida hotel or meet-up point.
