Meet the animals on a full-day safari in Nairobi National Park, the giraffe centre and the elephant orphanage!
Nairobi National Park
In the early morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Nairobi National Park for your first activity. You will then set off on a safari lasting around 4 hours to discover the animals of the savannah in their natural environment. With the help of your ranger guide, you will observe the many species that populate the park: rhinos, zebras, lions, buffaloes, hyenas, cheetahs, etc.
David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
You will then visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the elephant orphanage. As its name suggests, the centre takes in young orphaned elephants. Fed and raised until they are 2-3 years old, the elephants are then released back into the wild by their keepers, who continue to look after them until they are completely independent. You'll have an hour in the centre to wander around and watch the baby elephants play with each other. Between 11am and midday, you can even watch them being fed!
You will then be taken to a nearby restaurant for lunch (meal not included).
Giraffe centre
In the early afternoon, you will visit the giraffe centre. Since it opened in 1979, the centre has taken in, bred and then released around 500 giraffes into the wild, including the endangered Rothschild giraffe. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to feed the giraffes under the supervision of the guides.
If you wish, end your excursion by visiting a bead factory.
Kazuri bead factory (Monday to Friday only)
Before returning to your hotel, you will make a final stop at the Kazuri bead factory. From working with clay to painting, you'll learn the different stages of bead making, made by local women and exported around the world.
You'll be taken back to your hotel in Nairobi in the late afternoon.
