Discover Tombstone, one of the Wild West's most legendary towns!
Starting from your hotel in Phoenix, Scottsdale or Tempe, you'll depart on a private day trip to Tombstone. You'll first visit the San Xavier del Bac mission, one of the best preserved in the Southwestern USA. Characterized by Spanish colonial architecture and Native American influences, it is nicknamed the "White Dove of the Desert". Accompanied by your guide, you'll learn more about the frescoes and statues on display inside the building.
You'll then head to Tombstone, one of the most famous towns in the history of Western America. Nicknamed "the town that can't die", it will impress you with its typical western setting. Once the metropolitan center of the American West, bandits, sheriffs, ranchers and miners flocked to the area in their bid to strike it rich.
Discover the old haunts of outlaws and legendary gunfighters, such as Big Nose Kate's Saloon and the Bird Cage Theatre, famous for having been one of the most sultry night spots between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast.
With your guide's commentary, you'll learn more about the history of the Wild West and the town's various buildings. In particular, you'll discover the famous Boot Hill Cemetery, where the victims of the many shootings and confrontations that took place in the town are buried. You'll also enter the Tombstone Courthouse, which pays tribute to those who tried to keep the peace in this rough and dangerous town. Your guide will also tell you the story of the Bird Cage Theatre, which had the reputation of being "the most evil nightclub between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast". Finally, you'll find traces of the American West's most famous shootout, the OK Corral.
At the end of the day, you'll take the return route and be driven back to your hotel.
