Leave your hotel in Shanghai and head to the town of Zhouzhuang in Jiangsu Province.
A shuttle bus will collect you from your hotel to take you the 80km/50miles from the Pearl of the Orient to Zhouzhuang.
Accompanied by your guide, you will explore this town that is entirely surrounded by lakes and rivers. The only way of getting around is by boat!
Admire the Twin Bridges, constructed during the reign of the Ming Dynasty, and visit the Hall of Shen's Residence which was built by one of the richest men in the Yangtze region. This Qing style residence covers over 2000m2 and contains over 100 rooms.
You will also discover Zhang House, constructed during the reign of Ming Yingzong during the 15th century. Enjoy its calm inner pools and streams where the River Ruojing flows.
Taste a delicious traditional Chinese lunch before jumping on board a boat to explore Zhouzhuang from the water.
After your tour of the town, you will visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai at the end of the day.
